影展緣起

對話，對的話…

2010年4月30日的數聲槍響，讓死刑存廢的論辯，熱度攀爬到最高點。有熱度、有高潮，但卻沒有聚焦。許多批評者都指出，支持與反對死刑的兩方陣營，無對話、無溝通，無益於深化議題進而找出解決方案…

廢除死刑推動聯盟於2003年成立，2004年舉辦第一屆「殺人影展」、2007年舉辦「殺人影展2：死刑生產線」，今年10月份則是推出「殺人影展3：亞洲與世界的對話」。從2004年到2010年，三屆影展總計有來自伊朗、印度、日本、香港、丹麥、比利時、加拿大、法國、美國、英國、瑞典、義大利、德國及台灣的27部劇情片及紀錄片參展，題材涉及與死刑相關的各項議題，視角多元。而影展後，也時常有學校老師詢問影片狀況，做為授課的教材。

廢死聯盟於今年10月舉辦的第三屆殺人影展副標為「亞洲與世界的對話」。翻開世界的死刑地圖，目前有139個國家沒有死刑，58個國家還維持死刑，之中我們可以發現亞洲、非洲是維持死刑國家比較多的一個區域，歐洲則是全部廢除死刑，美洲則僅有少數國家維持死刑。

The Third Murder By Numbers Film Festival

The Murder by Numbers Film Festival （殺人影展3：亞洲與世界的對話）, featuring films and documentaries on the theme of the death penalty, is on from 8-10 October in Taipei. It will be followed by screenings in Hsinchu and on university campuses later in the month. The festival coincides with the World Day Against the Death Penalty on 10 October.

The festival is the third to be organised by the Taiwan Alliance to End the Death Penalty （台灣廢除死刑推動聯盟）. The first festival was held in 2004 and the second in 2007. The theme of the third festival is a dialogue between Asia and the world. Asia is one of the regions of the world where the death penalty is most carried out. Taiwan had an unofficial moratorium on the death penalty from December 2005 until April this year when four prisoners were executed. These executions again brought the death penalty debate into the spotlight and showed that Taiwanese society is deeply divided on the issue. Events like this film festival provide an important opportunity for people to engage in dialogue about the death penalty issue.
